🪻🌷☀️🌼🌹(finally :D)
This month started with good and bad news, the good first: My language teacher Tina, a great woman by the way, told me that I'm ready for the first module test! I was really excited to hear this news and was looking forward to 11/03 to take the test, but then the bad news happened...
Before I forget, there is more good news: the Women's Day was a complete success. We put so much time and energy into the planning and it all paid off. As well as having creative slogans printed on shirts and bags, we enjoyed a good meal and interesting talks about important issues we face as women every day. To let out all the frustration and make a statement, we ended up throwing paint with all our female power 💪🏼💪🏽💪🏿
Now for the bad news: I got sick right after Women's Day O.O
I was sick from Sunday to Wednesday and unfortunately missed the art day and the sewing workshop with Jannie :( but luckily my wonderful roommate took good care of me and told me about everything that was going on at work and at the language school :D I think my body was just trying to tell me very clearly that I needed to slow down and take some time to test. But don't worry I'm back stronger than ever and I needed to be because on Saturday of that week we had another family concert with dancing, groovy music and happy faces from children and adults alike.
I also needed all my strength to lie to someone special for a long time BUT not to hurt them and the result was for their own good. I'm talking about a surprise party planned by an amazing woman from Latvia and organised to celebrate our Guna Girl's birthday on the 23rd of March > < I had to use all my acting skills to tell Guna everything right away, but I managed it and her face when she came into our apartment was just priceless <3
Back in autumn Leyla and I helped Ronni with an event at the youth school, where the youngsters competed against each other in different categories. Once again it was a really fun event and nice to talk to the youngsters and see them working in teams. Another event that took place in March, where Leyla and I also got to help Ronni, was the presentation of the DOC film festival. We got to see a film called "Hvis jeg dør i dag / If I die today" by Camilla Arlien. The film was very moving for me and I can only recommend it to everyone. In fact, Leyla and I were so moved by the film that we decided we needed some distraction and took the car to see some cows and the sea. It was a beautiful day and we made the most of it, trying to soak up as much sun as possible.
Something that helps me start the day with energy is the fact that I have been waking up to beautiful sunny weather for the last few weeks. I realise that I have been spending more and more time outside to get some vitamin D and enjoy the beautiful spring ☀️Especially Those afternoons when I sit outside Café Viva, enjoying a coffee and a slice of their fantastic cheesecake and having a good chat with Leyla or reading my book are priceless. I hope to have more of those :)
As you can see, a lot has happened again and these are just the big events and happenings. I enjoy these big moments very much, but I also take in "little memories", for example:
- Art class with Katrine and seeing how creative children are. In a child's mind everything seems possible, even a snake with feathers
- going on a spontanouse roadtrip to Næstved with Leyla and exploring the city
- share new music favourites during the café shift with Guna, Leyla and Elisabeth.
- coming into the office and feeling welcomed by everyone every day.
- Enjoying a sunset at the Habor with Guna or Leyla, even though we had other plans, but ended up having a drink under the stars
- receiving a package from a friend in Austria who sent me a book she really liked and wanted to share with me
- phone calls with my family and friends to talk about everything that's going on in our mind and live
- the song Disparate Youth being played everywhere Leyla and I go, and us not getting tired of it
- the warm hugs from Janni as soon as she enters the café on Wednesdays
This list could probably go on forever but experiencing it is even better than just reading it, but I though you might want a taste of my precious memories :P
And it goes on and on and on because we already arrived in April!!! The first week of this month we already experienced another concert by Havblik on the 04/04 which was a lot of fun and a meeting with other volunteers in Vordingborg, where we ate delicious Indian food and shared our experiences so far. We also finally hung up the artpiece, that we worked on with Katrine in Norde Kirke and the house was bussing during the DM mini skills that took place at Kultrufabrikken.
Right now, I’m on my way to Austria to see my family and friends and in my next blog you will maybe hear a little bit more about my travel, but I’m sure even more exiting things will happen in April :D
Take care and vi ses
Tabea :P
PS: I was able to take the language school test on the 25/03 and passed so I’m now in Modul 2 :D
