summer comes and goes in denmark

With the sun and warmth also, the people came into the city. Maybe it just feels like that, because I met a lot of new people and had the change to catch up with some friends, that I hadn’t seen in a while.

As a team we were invited to the opening of Markedshallen and decided to appear there with a hand full of Sewing Machines and the Giarlande, that we have been working on for the opening fest. While painting, sewing and teaching people how to sew, we had a fun time, talked about our Workshop and Kulturfabrikken and had a fun afternoon.

Soon after that we got the chance to experience something, that might not happen again at Kulturfabrikken. It was another Metal Concert from the Band Red Warzawa and Tones and let me say it like that. I was to a lot of concerts in my life, but have never seen something like that. I had a fun time helping Leyla and Guna at the bar and spending most of the time in the crowed to take some good fotos for our Social Media. If you weren’t at the concert and want to get a taste of it, go and check out the pictures on Instagram or facebook. You probably need to scroll down a little bit, since a lot has happened in the house since then. For example the Fredagshyggebar :) Leyla had the wonderful idea to make some pancakes with our guest and decorate them with different topics. It ended as a cozy evening, with different topping decorations and laughters and we lived Hygge to the fullest :D

I’m now working more and more in the Café shifts, which is actually pretty refreshing for me. One reason why I’m able to do that know is kinda simple. I passed my 2nd Modultest !!! I was kinda nervous the closer the test came, but in the end it all worked out. Compared to the Modul 1 test I also needed to write and read this time in Danish. So that was really exciting and I’m happy, that I powered through  throw till the end of Modul 2 and I have to say I’m a little bit proud of myself.

Between work and Danisch school, we again had visitors at our place. This time it were volunteers, which we met on the volunteer meetings we attended. So Flavie (from France), Noelia (from Spain) and Lara-Sophie (from Belgium) visited us over the weekend and also Leylas Friend Theo came for the weekend and we spent a really nice and fun time together and were able to enjoy the beautiful, slightly summery weather in Nykøbing Falster. We right away took advantage of the weather and went for a short and cold swim at the beach in Marielyst and found ourselves at the Rose Festival in the City Center. It was a wonderful weekend and I hope to see them again soon.

Not only people came with the nice weather, but also Food festivals. One weekend Leyla and me hopped into the train and went to Næstved  to enjoy our evening at a small foodfestival. The vibe was pretty summery, but the wind had other plans. I still enjoyed the time with my roomie and a weekend later we had a event bigger food festival right infront our door. That was really practical for us and we enjoyed once again the fact that our apartment is right in the city center. Walking around at the festival, tasting food, meeting friends and enjoying the beautiful weather while trying to understand, what people explained about the food kinda felt like I’m on vacation.

Not only the city is getting more interesting and showing new sides, but also Kulturfabrikken is making big plants. Right now we are in the middle of planning the Indvielsesfest for the outdoor area at kulturfabrikken and there is a lot to think about. But I think it will all pay off in the end, and hopefully a lot of people will show up to celebrate and enjoy the start of the summer holidays together.
So who ever is reading this, is of course also very welcome to step by Kulturfabrikken on the 27th and 28th of June, enjoy the concerts, food, workshops and hygge and celebrate together with the team of Kulturfabrikken.

June has only just started, and we've already had many more adventures with friends. Janosch, a friend from Austria, travelled all the way to Denmark to spend a week full of rain, food and adventures with us. Together with him, and with two other volunteers — Marie and Maja, who are from Germany — we finally made it to Møns Klint, where we fell in love with the surrounding nature. Although it was a rainy day, we were really lucky with the weather and made our way through the beautiful forest. I was really happy to spend the day with all those wonderful people, and I hope Leyla and I will find time to visit Møns Klint again!

The weather is changing every minute, but I guess that's something Denmark is known for. I'm still enjoying every sunray, but I wouldn't call it summer yet, at least not, when we are talking about, what I'm used to. But something that makes also the rainy and windy days tolerable is, that it's at least not freezing cold anymore. Still, I would be ready to experience hotter summer days and go for a swim after work. Only time will tell if I will be able to do that :P

I think that's everything for this blog ^^

Vi ses and take care
